Mick Crowley was a legend in Cork City, He sold Rory Gallagher his first guitar, he supplied Cork's music community with the tools of their trade for decades, and his legacy continues to this day. He also gave me my first Job!
Although I was the worst keyboard salesman on planet earth, Crowleys Music Shop gave me an opportunity to play some of the best synthesizers and keyboards available at the time : Roland Juno 6, Jupiter, Moog and of course the Yamaha DX-7. It was a great place to showcase my music, As I demonstrated these machines.
I wrote this melody many moons ago, when I was 16 years old, In those days, I called it Being There and it was by far my most popular piece I played at Mick's shop in Mac Curtain street. I have recorded it many times, (in my studio in France, in ZTT in London, in RTE in Dublin) but I have never been happy with the result.
BEING INDULGENT (1st Movement)
Recorded here in my new recording studio, This is the way I like it. It took me a while to get the second piano right, but I wanted to record it in one take. At 6.00am as the sun came up, I nailed it.
One of the hardest things I have ever done, was to play this piece at the funeral of a very dear friend Alan Moore, It was his favorite!
This is for Alan.
